Welcome to Southern Utah University's Aviation Portal SMS messaging service. By participating in our SMS messaging service, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read these Terms carefully.

1. Service Description

Southern Utah University ("SUU," "we," "us," or "our") provides SMS messaging services to communicate important information to students, faculty, staff, and other affiliates. This may include but is not limited to: event notifications, emergency alerts, academic reminders, and other relevant messages.

2. Consent

By providing your mobile phone number and opting into our SMS messaging service, you expressly consent to receive SMS messages from SUU. Your consent to these Terms is not required as a condition of purchasing or receiving any goods or services from SUU.

3. Opting In

When you first login to your account on aviation.suu.edu, you are presented with checkboxes to select your notifications preferences, SMS, email, or both.

4. Opting Out

There are two ways to stop or manage your SMS messages:

1. Login to your aviation.suu.edu site and go to Your Account. You will see a notification preferences section that lets you choose the types of notifications you have opted to receive. You can deselect any/all options and save your preferences.
2. Cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text "STOP" to the designated phone number. After you send the SMS message "STOP" to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, just sign up as you did the first time and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.

You can also contact Aviation Student Services in hangar 1 at 2410 Aviation Way, Cedar City, UT 84721 or call (435) 586-7862 to request removal from Portal SMS messages.

5. Message Frequency

Message frequency vary. SUU does not guarantee a specific number of messages.

6. Cost

SUU does not charge for SMS messages; however, message and data rates may apply to each message sent or received, as determined by your mobile service provider. Please consult your mobile service provider for details regarding your plan and any applicable charges.

7. Privacy and Data Security

Your privacy is important to us. We will handle your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. SUU will not sell, rent, or share your mobile number with third parties for marketing purposes without your explicit consent.

8. Liability

SUU will not be liable for any delays or failures in the receipt of any SMS messages. Delivery is subject to effective transmission from your network operator and complete coverage in your area. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. SUU is not responsible for any undue delays, message failures, or unauthorized access to your mobile phone.

9. Help

If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program you can reply with the keyword HELP for more assistance, or you can get help directly by calling Aviation Student Services at (435) 586-7862.

10. Modification of Terms

SUU reserves the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the SMS messaging service (or any part thereof) with or without notice. SUU also reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically for any changes.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of Utah, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

By opting into our SMS messaging service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service.
