Southern Utah University Aviation SMS Messaging Program

Southern Utah University Aviation provides an online Aviation Portal for students enrolled in Southern Utah University's aviation program. The Aviation Portal is used by students, instructors, and staff to manage flight training activities, flight bookings, academic information, documents, and other aviation program services.


SMS Messaging Program

Southern Utah University Aviation offers optional SMS text message notifications to Aviation Portal users.

Users who choose to receive SMS notifications may receive messages related to the notification categories they select, including:

SMS messages are informational and operational in nature and are not used for marketing or promotional purposes.


How Users Opt In to SMS Messages

SMS enrollment takes place within the authenticated Southern Utah University Aviation Portal.

Users are not automatically enrolled in SMS messaging. When a user accesses Notification Preferences, all SMS notification options are unchecked by default.

Users affirmatively opt in by selecting the SMS checkbox next to each notification category for which they wish to receive text messages. SMS and email notification preferences are independently selectable.

Users may choose SMS, email, both, or neither for individual notification categories and may change their notification preferences at any time.

SMS Notification Preferences

The image above shows the actual Notification Preferences interface presented to authenticated SUU Aviation Portal users. All SMS notification options are unchecked by default. Users must affirmatively select each SMS notification category for which they wish to receive messages.

At the point where SMS preferences are selected, users are presented with the following disclosure:

By selecting SMS notifications, you consent to receive text messages from Southern Utah University Aviation for the notification categories selected above. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance. See our Privacy Statement and Terms of Service for more information.

SMS consent is optional and is not required as a condition of enrollment in or participation in the Southern Utah University Aviation program.


Opting Out

Users may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to an SMS message.

Users may also change or disable individual SMS notification categories through Notification Preferences within the SUU Aviation Portal.

After opting out by SMS, users will receive a confirmation that they have been unsubscribed from SMS messages.

Users may reply HELP to an SMS message for assistance.

Message Frequency and Charges

Message frequency varies depending on the notification categories selected by the user and the user's activities within the SUU Aviation program.

Message and data rates may apply according to the user's mobile carrier and service plan.

Southern Utah University Aviation does not charge users for participation in the SMS messaging program.


Privacy

Southern Utah University Aviation respects the privacy of users participating in its SMS messaging program.

Mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in information, and SMS consent information are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
